Thanks

*.*.kg domains resolve in a few days for some people, while it may take up to 2-3 weeks for others (I'm one of those others :()

Keep checking and you'll find out sooner or later. ;)

I think it depends on your PID, lower PIDs get higher priority ;)

Perhaps domains resolve on a certain date and/or time, like on the 20th of every month. So the people who applied for a domain on the 21st would think that it would take a month for their domain to resolve, while the people on the 19th would think that the domains resolves the next day. Don't ask me what happens on the 20th. :p

Just a wild guess...

I think they have become quicker. The latest times it took well under 48 hours.

I don't have any definitive information, but it looks to me like they forward the registration data about once a week to whoever the next up the line is. Then, it takes a day for the site to resolve.

Something strange happend:

Last friday I registered a domain at www.domain.kg and used the nameservers of mydomain, this domain is not yet active.

Yesterday (Monday) I registered a domain again (with the same ID for domain.kg), but used the nameservers of a hosting company, and this domain was active this morning!!

Very strange.

niv
September 4th, 2001, 11:51
Not really. MyDomain sucks. They can't handle all the *.*.kg domains.

kennymoens

What should I use instead?

I need:
- cloacked redirection
- unlimited e-mail forwarding

niv
September 4th, 2001, 11:54
Use another provider like zoneedit or point it to a host.

Cyber

i wish there was something like mydomain, but newer & better (with uptime/working)

instantly

well, after register, the time to activate your domain depends exclusivelly of your nameservers. or i'm wrong?

i'm just assign a .net.kg domain, using mydomain nameservers, and after 8 hours my domain are 'on the air'

when i assign for one second domain, with one paid nameserver, only 8 hours.

and yesterday, using zoneedit, 12 hours after assign other domain at domain.kg

sorry for my very bad english!:D

i was going to register all important ones like:
msn.com.kg
microsoft.com.kg
yahoo.com.kg
excite.com.kg
home.com.kg
which could be quite some fun!

I wonder if there is any legalities attached to those domains?

you know how it can take weeks for the domain to go through. Does the same apply for changes you make to the nameserver? or will it take the standard 24-72 hrs?

smartmlp
September 7th, 2001, 10:45

well... you can't legally register a domain like 'msn.com.kg' if msn/microsoft have a legal office at Kyrghyzstan, according to international copyright treaties.

but, if they don't have offices or legal representants, no problem. i think :-p

60 domains?? wow... but... for what??

LeX
September 9th, 2001, 07:44
60+ domains that I have kept track of and definitely more lost ones..... :D

How am I supposed to know when the day comes when aany of the domains I registered are put into use? :p So, before anybody else snatches them, I claim ownership of them first. Heh heh... I'll think about what to do with them later on.....

Sorry, just one word: stupid !!!
It will cost you a lot of money, when you are sued.

Did you ever hear of the WIPO? Did you ever read alt.domain-names.disputes?

LeX

roblev

another question to add to the thread (in topic):

do you think that www.domain.kg will ever go down? (if so i am seriously f---ed over!)

LeX
September 17th, 2001, 01:58
If the Kyrghyzstan government ever dies, probably.
