Ok I admit I really don't know much about domain names and the such. But what I would like to know is how to locate the server that the domain name is on.
For example there is a web page that has there own domain name but I want to know the name of the hosting server they are using. Is there a way to do that.
Thanks for your time.

You could do a whois and see the nameservers.

You may have to do it with the respective NIC. For example, if you're looking up a domain with the TLD extension of .com/.net/.org/etc., you can use internic.net. If you're looking up a .jp domain, you can go to nic.ad.jp.

Well they almost do all kinds od whois. There is a big list on the righ hand side pointing to whois registries of every country on the list. I don't think they know about kg's yet. I don't think any registry apart from domain.kg knows about kg.

You're wrong about that... they just can't do whois searches on kgs yet, but they've heard of them.

Well they don't do whois, so it doesn't serve any purpose. I don't think domain.kg has the whois protocol implemented.
