just trying to do my part... personally I haven't lost anybody, but I know that the losses around me are numerous because of the number of people in the area who work for the pentagon. they are estimating up to 800 deaths there.

There are an overwhelming amount of blood donors but there still is a deficit in the amount of O+, O-, and Rh- blood.

I wish I could give blood, I am such a big guy, they could be taking out of each arm and it wouldn't bother me, but when I donated blood, I got a letter saying that I shouldn't donate blood because of some liver enzyme or something.

The blood shortage is a real problem, but unfortunately they aren't finding many survivors so I would assume it's not as crucial as first thought. However, you should still give blood as it's in a shortage and it's something that most people can do in order to help.
I also wanted to post that PayPal has apparently set up a fund for this as well: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/relief-outside
It's nice to see everyone joining together after such a horrible event.

If you've got websites, I'd strongly suggest that you help harvest donations that way to help with this crisis.
Here are some banners people have made:
http://www.standardinternet.com/help/help.html
http://www.magicalcheese.com/uploads/redcross.gif
http://www.freegraphics.com/911a.html
As the red cross website is constantly overflowed with traffic it is reccomended that you send your visitors here http://www.amazon.com/paypage/PKAXFNQH7EKCX .
Let's hope we can all try and help,
