The tallest buiding in the world is the CN Tower. (Which was closed down because of the incident in the US, which blacked out all TV in the Toronto region.)

Free standing? I dunno what you are talking about... they all need extensive structural support... but the Petronas towers are the highest in the world. They beat the Sear's Towers who previously held that record.

www.cntower.ca seems to claim this:

Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada's most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33m (1,815 ft., 5 inches), it is the World's Tallest Building and Free Standing Structure, an important telecommunications hub, and the centre of tourism in Toronto.

This claims otherwise...

http://www.discovery.com/stories/technology/buildings/buildings.html

The Sear's Tower still holds the honor of having the most floors...

the space needle was closed too.

The CN tower is the tallest "structure" in the world, because many say it is not a building.

The petronas tin towers are acepted as being the worlds tallest "building"

do ya think that they gonna build another WTC after this incident?

Koolguy

I doubt it, they will probably shuffle the stock market around to another building complex and leave the area as a memorial or something.

Then again.. wall street real estate costs so freakin much.

They should build it up again, post haste. But taller and bigger and better and stronger. Be positive. Don't get beat by these cowards.

The cam is fake... look at the date and time and then look at the people....although both the date and time is current the scene is not....take a look at the other webcam ont the same site, that is real.

Out of private funding, maybe, but there will have to be a memorial. Definitely.

President Bush says that New York has a blank check. As soon as damage estimates come in, the money will come.

What kind of hazzard pay will they have to give to get people to work there, though. The WTC was bombed only a few years ago, destroyed now, and will remain one of the most attractive targets in the world for a wide variety of terrorist groups when rebuilt. I wouldn't work there, personally.
