Hey guys.
I was just sittin in the computer lab and decided to time how long my site takes to load. It took about 15 seconds, which when you ask me is to long.
Now if I use SSI and use those <#include> tags (or whatever) and then just include the header and footer on each page...will it load faster?
Thanks,
Mekhu

Personally I think 15 seconds is ok - as long as the text appears first, people will wait for images to load within reason.
Remember also that many people will have a slow connection or may be further from the host server than you, so it will take longer for them.
Opera shows some info while pages are loading you might find interesting like number of images, time to load, page size.

Doubt that SSI would increase rendering speed. Images and so on will be cached anyway after the first view.

Your page is probably slowed because either your host is just slow or your pages take a long time to render, neither of which SSI will help. The point of SSI isn't a speed increase, it's to simplify building and making changes to websites.

After I made this post I read up on it...
Basically SSI takes longer because the host server needs to read the .shtml file and do what each SSI command says.
I will test my site some more and see what I can do to improve it.
Thanks,
Mekhu

Yes, but you would have to be on one ---- slow server or that to be noticeable.
What's the problem with your site the? Large images or slow server?

Nothing is wrong with it....
Loads in less than 3 seconds on my computer....
Using some thing online it loaded in 6 seconds and at school on 56k it loaded in 15....
