The simple answer is that you can't. There are some place like http://namezero.com , but it's registered in their name and you have to pay like $50 to get it renewed. you'd be much better off just to pay $8 and get one yourself.

If you search for the term "free domain registration" at google you'll find a lot of hosts offering a free domain in your name as promotion.

The hosting companies that do offer free domain registration don't provide free hosting.

Yes...free stuff isn't always good. Just pay the $8, and own the domain yourself, and have the ability to renew it. It will save you a lot of money in the long run. If you decide to drop the domain, it only cost you $8, so it isn't a big loss.

Option 1...
Domains cost $8 .. you can do what every you would like with ... point it .. park t ... whatever .. and you will be charged only $8 per year.
Option 2 ....
NameZero give you FREE Domain ... which they will stick ugly ads on .. you can't move it unless you pay $30 for the pleasure and you will be charged $35 to renew in 12 months .. by which time your heart will be broke .. and you will need $500 worthof therapy.
Tough Choice!

Oh... so your username's read "mrs carface", not "mr scarface"?! I've been mistaken for so long... :o
Namezero don't always charge you $30, sometimes they have this "special limited time offer", a time when the domain costs only $14.95 to take it. I've actually heard of somebody getting back a NZ domain for $9.95!!

they'll register you a free .com.kg domain. I think he could just do that much himself.
