I have a site hosted on portland.co.uk, but my site keeps getting locked due to excessive traffic or too much space used.

I'm looking for a host that will host a domain free, has a cgi-bin, and with no ads on the page.

or, perhaps a small discreet text link/button ad.
if this can't be had, which is the best that does put a stinkin' ad on it?

Hello,

Are you ever able to contact anyone at "portland.co.uk"???

I have never been able to contact them even after multiple "emails". Even when they had the "Bulletin Board" open they responded when they felt like it.#JK@L%*#@)@!!!

KILL THOSE PORTLAND BASTARDS! Why the hell do they even deserve to offer free webspace? Everyone knows it's just a con to have users upgrade to one of their paying services after realizing that 100 mb bandwidth per month is insufficient for 95% (rough estimate) of all good websites.

I think we need to learn the difference between a con, and a marketing tool. Any host offering any pacakge for under $3 is generally hoping you'll have to upgrade. What does $3 give them? Not a whole lot.

well i think portland is find, the services they offer are very good, and the bandiwdrth limit is fine, sure if you jam pack your site full of images then you are going to go over the limit, but some of the best sites are done using text and tables.

if you don't like them fine, the deserve to offer free webspace, they have proved so by being able to host over 100,000 sites with no ads for over a year.

Dude. Do you just promote a different fwp every month? Last month it was netcabins, and before that you were praising f2s (i think.)
