I'm looking for more free browsers:

I have some listed at http://www.freehost.nu/members/archbob/internet.html

I think I got about 8 so far. You guys know of any more?

K-Meleon

Well, he's not including IE and Netscape, and since Netscape is just branded Mozilla and so is K-Meleon, I doubt he'd include that.

I wonder why he would include NeoPlanet, considering the fact it's running off of IE, and just looks different.

Except for it's gecko engine, which is not made by Netscape. I think that it is a reasonable alternative.

A fast and light, standards compatable browser. Who wouldn't want that?

Only Opera, SunJava Browser, and Amaya isn't.

Did you read my post, Coolin? Both Netscape 6 and K-Meleon use Mozilla's Gecko engine, hell, K-Meleon even uses Mozilla as it's mascot. If they use the same rendering engine, in my opinion, they're the same browser. No where did I say Mozilla was Netscape, in fact I said the opposite. K-Meleon doesn't look like Netscape, no, they stole IE's interface.

Ok, you said that K-Meleon shouldn't be included in that list because Netscape and K-Meleon both use the Gecko rendering engine.

The main reason why people don't want to use the big two is because of the fact they are huge and bloated in file size and they suck alot out of your system.

K-Meleon isn't like this. It's file size is smaller than Mozilla and Netscape's and it's resource usage is much less.

Sure, they both use the Gecko rendering engine, but how does that make them the same? K-Meleon could just use another standards compliant engine like Opera's and the user experience you get is still the same as with the Gecko engine.

K-Meleon is small now, but I'm going to reserve judgment until it's done. There's still a lot more to add.

I don't think it will be.

Here are some snippets from their website:

K-Meleon is the Windows answer to Galeon. Thus, K-Meleon is a lite Web browser based on gecko (the mozilla rendering engine). It's fast, it has a light interface, and it is fully standards-compliant. To make it simple, K-Meleon could be considered as the unbloated Mozilla version for Windows.
---
Features:

- Simple, efficient, IE look-alike.
- Fast loading time.

Since K-Meleon is the Windows answer to Galeon, one must think that K-Meleon will be almost the same as Galeon.

Here's something from Galeon's website:

While Mozilla has an excellent rendering engine, its default XUL-based interface is considered to be overcrowded and bloated. Furthermore, on slower processors even trivial tasks such as pulling down a menu is less than responsive.

Galeon aims to utilize the simplest interface possible for a browser. Keep in mind that simple does not necessarily mean less powerful. We believe the commonly used browsers of today are too big, buggy, and bloated. Galeon addresses simplicity with a small browser designed for the web -- not mail, newsgroups, file management, instant messenging or coffee making.

I'll believe what they produce more than what they say. Like I said, I'll reserve judgment until it's finished. :)

Wow. Coolin! I've won you for k-mel. I thought you hated the thing. :)
Have you tried the unofficial 0.45? It's neat. *hint* 0.5 is due tomorrow (read within two weeks :p).

It wouldn't be much use making a slimmed Mozilla as big as Mozilla itself, now would it? :)

Yeah, I'm having trouble adding content to that portion of my website.

I can't seem to find any reliable free browsers that aren't just IE and netscape, and there are very few reliable "free online access" companies.

I'm writing a browser. Using IE (and then later on Netscape) core.

Enigma. Which uses the IE core. Which boots up with Windows. So that doesn't exactly give you that much of an advantage when it comes to resource usage. But I guess that it is still another browser.

Uh...according to the author it doesn't. It needs some dll's or whatnots but doesn't require IE to be installed...I think. Not a favorite of mine but it is small.
