Use their high speed connections to run the server while this Alex guy sits at home and gets all advertisement revenue?

What's the point of starting up a company if you have no plans whatsoever to make money off of it? And how do you expect to conduct upgrades on servers and such? Money is power and if you expect to get anywhere with a FWP Service you need that money. A cheap DSL connetion or cable modem is not going to support a FWP very long...

I know a few free host there don't make money with advertisement. They ask for donation from their members. And they do their upgrade of server, or connection with the donation.
And not everyone start up a free host for money. Some might be just trying to get some experience etc...
And Alex, what are the four ppl going to do? And why should they have to have 24/7 connection?

If you don't want the revenues, and you aren't gonna touch the servers since they're at another person's house... You aren't really running the company...

Well, it's pretty clear this FWP is going absolutely NOWHERE fast. You expect to be able to run a FWP from one of your "partners'" home connections? WOW! That's worthwhile. This has the classic "It will last a month at best!" written all over it.
Wait...you're going to sink a WHOPPING $600 into it??? Hmmmmm, in that case you should be the next Geocities! That's enough to buy....uhhhhh...no...that's enough to buy...uhhhh....no....that's not enough to buy sh!t when it comes to servers. You gonna set it up on an eMachine or something?
Methinks you have some homework to do before you're even remotely ready to set up a FWP!

Ron, Perhaps he plans to buy the server and get a $400 instant rebate on it when he signs up with MSN for 3 years... :D

Then he'll have the much-needed connection for the server as well (although 56K might be a tad sluggish for a server at peak times - dunno, never tried it) :p

Guys, please dont' discourage this lilttle fella. Making fun of someone trying to have some experience is not a good idea.
He's just wanting to get some experience.
Alex. I will help you. Get a CobaltRaq and run it for now.

Sorry, I don't do dedicated servers. I'm an Alabanza Host.
I don't sell servers also.
If you feel that this is benefiting me, great. Let's be that way.

Ron,
I was replying to your post, but noticed now that you deleted your post.

I can't figure out why these people would benefit? They'd be using their machines (questionably useable as a web server), paying for their line (which isn't adequate for running web servers), and although they get to keep the reventue, they could try running this themselves (why, I don't know after there's been so much talk of how bad an idea this would be).
Please take your money and save it. Put it in the bank. Don't waste it until you've thought this through. If you don't want the money, send it to me :)

And what happens to it the remaining 10 days of the year ?
If you really designed that site yourself, you're really gonna make yourself a carreer in the webdesign business cos it looks great.

I knew liquid2k was out there ages ago and if he was hosted by them http://www.liquid2k/alex or something which was in his userinfo it doesnt seem he owns them .

No doubt, Ron! I have sunk around $13,000 into NetCabins so far and I know that isn't the last I will be spending on it. Connections for my two servers are in the range of $200/month total now and raising with traffic. Someone can't start a FWP with $600 if they expect to be any good. If you want to just play around, buy a half decent used server on eBay and see what you can do with it. Don't expect to find 4 people who all want to waste their time on this game, though!

You realize that you just laughed at yourself right? Oh well, guess they can't laugh at you if you laugh with em ( Yeah, like that's really true ).
I just want you to exaplain one thing to me Alex. If you made the Liquid2k.com design ( which is fairly nice ), then how come both of your sites' designs are piss poor? It just confuses me that a good designer would put up a page like this: http://liquid2k.com/alex/ .

Well, unless this guy is using someone else's name... take a look at the whois record for that domain he said he owns:
http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?STRING=liquid2k.com&STRING=Search
Guess he does own it.

Why do people go around claiming there something and they are not? Why when you do a whois on liquid2k.com it shows my info and not yours? And if you did find a server for 600$ a month please tell me where, because we are getting killed on bandwith... =)

Why do people post the same message many times over, on the same forums? :)

Let's stop making fun of the little fellow, all... I think he learned his lesson, and is peeing in his pants now :)
He's a FWP-wannabe, doesn't know a thing about money, thinks a domain name costs $600 , and doesn't know it is RENTED, he thinks he can register a Limited for $1 (because if you're gonna start a FWP, that's a good idea) ...
Oh well... better think over your ideas a few more times before you post them here next time, Alex :)
