I bought a new pair of computer speakers, pretty good, for SG$42. Thats about US$20.
Well, its name is called Altec Lansing, if you're using it, please tell me how good is it. Well, I find it good for multimedia. What do you think about this pair of speakers if you're using it?

They're a pretty popular brand name of speakers.

I hope you like them, they are a good brand.
I personally like Labtec better. For $60 US dollars I got four speakers with a subwoofer. Never I have heard such good sound.
Never get unknown brands, get the ones that are known like Altec and Labtec... all are excellent.

Probably a faulty unit, if you have a warrenty you should exchange them in.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with my set. They're fairly good in that they make quality speakers for a low price.

I got them with my cpu. That was about 1 1/2 years ago so the warranty is probably finnished.

I get crackling sound too. If i try any media player other than WMP, I get the sound. Probably a "bug" in windows. Don't think it's the speakers, maybe the soundcard. Both are no name.

I get screwed-up sounds in the treble end if I use Windows Media Audio below 96 Kbps and a sampling rate of 32000 Hz or higher.

Not small ones like that.
Labtec and altec lansing are good brands. The best speakers available, i think, are bose speakers.

My computer goes through my awesome stereo system in my room. So I don't worry about any of that.

I dont have an awesome stereo. I have 2 ----ty little speakers on my computer, and headphones in my room. My car was a different story but i sold it.
At work, however, there is a very good sound system worth about $7000 that i can hook to the computer. the only problem then is that I have to deal with everyone who doesnt like what i'm listening to.

my ----ty ones are polkaudio. as for the big ones I can choose between bose, peavey, or a homemade pair.
Its not the speakers that cost so much, its all the equipment powering them. basically everything between the computr and the speakers is what costs.

I have a couple of little Altecs with a subwoofer and they're great. They're about 4 inch speakers and they get LOUD. I could compare them to a good couple of Sony Xplod car 6x9's as far as sound quality. The subwoofer hits kinda weird though but all that bass does in my house is pisses my parents off, so that's ok. They're very good speakers; while Labtec may be a little better, Altec has been around longer. The older company is usually a good one to pick if they have a good reputation.

You should see my homemade pair. they suck a lot of power but they get loud. I wish i could take a picture of them. I basically just modified some car stero components, and made 2 boxes for them.
