Check it out (http://www.icq.com/alpha)

New features (http://www.icq.com/alpha/new_features.html)

Personally I recommend Trillian (http://www.trillian.cc)

Hm. Interesting.

I wonder if it's any good.

Probably not.

I've noticed each year I dislike it more.

I might install it...hmm... i dont use icq much anymore, it's just a pain.

I also tried Trillian for a few weeks once, but I just can't get into it... maybe i'll give it another go.

I hate ICQ very much.

Did 2000 ever get out of beta?

No. ICQ never gets out of Beta. They label their software. Limited Time Beta (or something like that).

That makes another entry in my "Reasons I hate ICQ" list.

Share and exchange files ----> Peer2Peer. Do you think they are going to shut down ICQ as well? Heh...

I hate 2000B. Starts on startup, have to disable it. And all the homepages thing, it sets my start page as icq.com although I change it. Sucks, eh?

This is biggest improvement IMO

Contact List on Servers - ICQ 2001b saves your ICQ Contact List on the ICQ servers. This means that when you use your own ICQ# to log in to ICQ from any computer, you can access your Contact List.

I just hope ICQ's servers don't crash because of the load.

Does ICQ2001 bog up all the RAM like ICQ2000b? Is it less than 10 megs?

I stopped using ICQ right after i downloaded 2000b. .....2000b....:nervous:

my extremely old computer only has 24 megs of RAM and 30 megs left on the HDD.

Why don't you try it for youself and see? :p

I like how you can choose what useless features you want and don't want now. I still hate how they implemented horrible ads on it.

What's the URL to the site that teaches you how to remove the banners again?

ICQ 2001b saves your ICQ Contact List on the ICQ servers.

Now THAT is something that will make me consider using ICQ more.

Pah. The amount of times I have had to re-add people to it, digging up these weird numbers from all over the place. PAH!

Hehe, main reason i switched to the new beta, with 750 ICQ contacts, i don't want to lose a single one!

:confused2
