Well, I was experimenting with Outlook today, and decided to try out the POP feature of my current mail provider... and I got a bunch of letters I've left in my inbox that I've already seen, so I decided to delete them from Outlook. Then when I checked the webmail inbox, all of my letters were gone! I thought Outlook only deleted letters that it has downloaded...

I know how poorly programmed Outlook is, so I was wondering if there was any possible way to retrieve all my deleted emails? :(

In yahoo or usa.net deleted mails go to the trash folder if you delete it from an email client. maybe the same thing has happened with your web account.

It's been a long time I have used OE/MSO but I think there is an option somewhere which prevents what happened to you. I think it's leave mail on server or donot delete mail on server when deleted locally or somehing like that in the account properties.

I deleted it in Outlook, LAH.

Epgs, of course I know there's a trash can (duh ), I deliberately went to the trash can and deleted all deleted mail! Those are the mails I'm hoping to recover... :cry2:

And no, I did not check the "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'" option.

Yes I know. But when you download and delete locally and if the option is set to delete in on the server(webmail) also (as in your case) usually the mail on the server is not deleted it usually ends up in the the trash folder of the *webmail account*. This is what happens on usa.net and yahoo.com atleast.

And I forgot to add, I was using Outlook Express. Not that I think it matters..

Umm... Whenever you download email using a POP3 client, it will automatically delete it off the server even if you don't delete it locally. It's already too late, but if you want the email to be left on the server you have to choose the "Leave messages on server when downloaded" option.

And if you want to recover deleted stuff there are tools in McAffee Utilities and Norton Utilities that have this option. But if the software isn't already installed, installing it will probably just wipe out where the email messages were.
