How are you going to keep the services running without any ads?

spacetowns

We are powered by a bigger company so we will offer advanced services later on.

Looks like 5 mb, not 50. Upload manager, not FTP. No indication of message boards, guest books, et al.

i'm not sure this host can be too trustful...

spacetowns

the guestbook formail etc you get when logged in.

It's 5MB of space then when you need more users can email us and we will increase it to 10MB and so on.

we could put 50MB on all accounts then idiots will just upload 50MB of warez and junk...this way we can control the accounts and see the high users. allowing people to upload 50MB from day one can result in idiots using it just for the bandwidth.

We can be trusted we are part of an international company with two offices.

lots of people we used to run a free host with 20,000 users and it was a big problem.

Are you paying for any of your services? The finances are being handled by the larger company, and therefore you are just giving hosting under a different name. Cobrand. Otherwise, even if you're just paying a fee for the servers, that's reselling.

Hayama-kun whats your problem?

If spaceports was a co branded site it would be powered by another free host who offers that.

spacetowns is powered, created and staffed and all future work thats being done for spacetowns by in house programmers to have our own system rather than homefree is done by the main company. If you got some problem with it then just email sales@zenithtech.com and ask them.

I have no problem at all, just want to get things straight. Watch out for ungrateful users, because there are CGI exploits in HomeFree. We had a case of that about a month ago.

Your host is a free host; from what I understand from your post, they are waiving the server and colocation fees for you. It doesn't matter if they normally offer cobranding anyway. I'll just refer to your company as a subdivision of that larger company.

What are you on about??????

>>they are waiving the server and colocation fees for you<<

waiving the fees?

what are you trying to get at ?

Ahh, forget it. You don't even see my point.

servers and finance backed by bigger company yes.

This means that you are running:

1. A cobrand: Zenithtech doesn't have a section for freehosting, so this wouldn't be it, although very close to being one.
2. A subdivision: The company is paying for the fees for the hosting, you are just representing this division.

I don't really feel like arguing anymore as this will just be a large number of Yes/No posts.

Yes, and you seem to be scanning through my posts.

Your posts are pointless you have no clue how the company is setup.

You can ring me in the morning on any of the phone numbers shown on the Zenith Tech site and I will be in the Zenith Tech office.

You need to learn what co branding is.

Ahh, Zenithtech.. how interesting

Former owner of Solcities which was up and running for a couple years before I bought it. They screwed everything up before they sold it to me. They said it was a fully functional hosting service. All your software and servers were screwed up and nothing was working. You guys ripped me off.

No it was fully running and everything worked fine, once it was bought out after two months of having it your drive was full and you didnt want to pay for another, you said you were moving to another host or you had re sold it but you never opened the sites again.

This is the ad forum, not really the place for all sorts of tangent discussion.

FTP - you log on with a generic password and username, then create your own directory to upload into. So, a user who wanted to could trash anything anybody else uploaded. Then, you have to go to the file manager to "import" them.

Doesn't support subdirectories. I could live within the space limitations for my test site, but it requires directories. I can live without a lot of frills on this site, but that's not one of them.

Speed looks fine, but all my graphics are in directories, so it was just loading text - and I was the third user to have a directory.

Apparently, they are putting things in as people complain. FTP went in this evening, for example. Maybe directories tomorrow. :)

I don't think I'll actually use the site. I was going to move it off one of my paid hosts, but there just isn't enough here for more than a splash page.

birkitty

I used free hosting for years, and every one I ever used allowed subdirectories.
