ok i am gonna get a new hard drive should i spend an extra 20 bucks and upgrade from a 5400 rpm to a 7200 rpm? and how much memory should i get to see a difference. right now i was planning on gett 1024 megs (over 1 gig) and having a total of 1.2 gigs of ram. is that at all necessary? or where should i not upgrade ram any more? i have an amd athlon 850mhz running win2k. oh and the reason i am buying 1 gig of ram is because it is 63 bucks. so y not or is it a little excessive?

About harddrives, yes I would definately get a 7200 rpm (even though I don't have one). You'll see an improvement.

About the memory. I wouldn't think you'd need that much, but ya never know. Since your running 2k, open up your task manager and check you mem. usage. If it's high, get the extra ram.

I think 7200rpm HD and 512 Megs are the way to go unless you got some really series apps to run.

Don't you mean if, not unless? 512 MB is a hefty amount of RAM as it is. 63$ for 1 GB RAM...better check if it is faulty or not first.

Many companies sell cheap generic high density ram for that much or even less.

The only problem might be that mixing of different kinds of ram is not always a good idea.

well 512 mb of ram is selling for 36 bucks now with shipping 25 without. and so shipping charges aren't as much per unit is you buy in bulk. so 63 for 2 with shipping
