No, i don't think their good. I have heard a lot of complaints. Also a lot of people i the past(meaning like weeks) on these boards have said they don't give you everything they promise.

They NEVER respond. I've seen tons of people never get replies after sending in an application. Don't even try, it's just a waste of time.

I hope you're not planning to transfer your domain over to them because they'll charge you for that. So, in some sense or another, it's not totally free hosting.

And they transfer you to the super expenisive Register.com service too. I wouldn't use them.

I have hosted my domain with them for a few months. They are reliable, at least I can say that. They have not been down yet, but I have gripes:

1. No MySQL service, like their pages says that they support. They say this will be available as soon as the "control panel" is launched.
2. Everyone.net email. They don't let you do email forwarding or POP email, all your email has to be read through their lame-O email partnership with ad-laden everyone.net. Also, people can sign up for emails with your domain, even if you don't want them to.
3. Pooish customer support

In part of an email I sent them, I listed some features of portland.co.uk that makes it better than them (although the bandwitdth limit, cust. support, and reliablity suck there):

The reasons that I thought I might prefer portland.co.uk to bootbox:

1. Working MySQL service
2. Discussion forums
3. Nameserver management for your domain
4. News pages that let you know what's going on with the service (ie we installed new servers today. Server 15 crashed; sorry for the inconvenience)
5. POP email, email forwarding, modification of MX entries
6. VISP -- they allow you to host other people as a subdomain of your domain, using their servers.

Is boobox planning to support these features in the future? MySQL is probably the most important. I assume that due to your partnership with everyone.net, you will be unable to offer POP email.

His reply:
--------------------
The MySQL offering will be available once our control center launches. We will not do Nameserver management, since the entire purpose of having a central point of administration for all of the domains that host with us is for us to be able to manage them efficiently. You are correct that there will be no POP mail offered at this time due to the webmail solution with Everyone.Net and BootBox. News pages will be offered within the control center, but really won't be very necessary considering we haven't had a problem for over a year now. Discussion forums, BBS, real-time chat, etc. are all services that are coming soon. The sub domain hosting will also be coming this year. There will be popups on the sub domains, but you can offer free web hosting name.yourname.com via a co-branded registration center.

Hope that helps!

Huh? popups on subdomains? Subdomains hosted under my domain?

Anyway, bootbox seems like the best for now, although I do recoment http://www.f2s.com. They are sorta-okay for reliability, and have some good features (do they support MySQL now? It used to be only semi-working PostgreSQL. When did they start this service??) *glances around, befuddled*

Anyway, Boobox is good on reliability, has no banners, has bad support, does not support MySQL (like it says on their front page, yo), and makes you use eveyone.net, but it's still the best I can come up with for the time being.
