i followed all the instructions on how to install ikonboard, but when i tried to start the installer, how come i got a '500 Internal Server Error'. Can someone help me ....?

chmod? Upload in ASCII?

first of all, besure you upload all .cgi files in the "cgi" folder in ASCII mode, then chmod every file with extension ".cgi" to 755 !
