Help! My friends domain expire and on hold, what to do now?

One of my friend domain with Network Solution and expires on 16 October 2001. He try to register with other registrar, but the domain was not available. I check through the domain and find the domain is still onhold.

I just wonder how long the domain will be onhold before it is release to publisc for registeration? Any one have any idea what to do now since he really like the domain?

Probably at least 45 days, but NetSol has a habit of never releasing domains so if he likes it, my suggestion is to renew it with NetSol and then transfer it.

Thanks for the help. Just one more question, is it means that my friend still able to renew the domain with Net Sol even though it was expired? How to do this?

I'd say so, he should check the domain at NetSol, it might have a payment link. Also, call or email them if that doesn't work, though I'd look for something on their site to renew domains first.
