Sure, DomainDLX.com runs Windows 2000, Brinkster.com runs Windows and a pile of other ASP hosts run Windows-based servers.

I can't believe atomichosting.net is still alive today. Of course, they only have about 102 sites hosted and are currently not accepting new signups. I guess that they kind of did the right thing by not having their host listed at freewebspace.net or in any of the major search engines; this way, they remain the underground host they are and will never be forced to impose advertising on all their members' pages.

Well few have any business plan what-so-ever, and the usual, "Hey, I've got a 500 MB hosting account, maybe I should start a FWP!" plan just doesn't work out. Trying to start a FWP on a underpowered server that they don't know anything about usually pans out just the same.
There are many Free Web WeUsedTo-Providers.

Dont You Think 500mb Would Be Enough? If You Gave Each Of Your Users 5mb You Could GO Easilly..

You could run a fwp off 500mb accounts with a webhost. but that is not a wise idea. Shows you have not put much thought into your host and arent very serious about it.

For the most part, the host is giving you that space for your needs, but some prohibit selling off (or giving away) accounts. Reason being is that, for $20 you are getting a small portion of a shared server, not getting a dedicated server yourself (thus you can't treat it as if you were on your own dedicated server).
I guess I just have a picture in my head of what a FWP is, and FWP's who run off of home computers with DSL or cable lines, and ones who just give away space from a virtual hosting account, better have a plan if they hope to continue.
I suppose it would work at first, but only for so long.

a 500mb account giving 5mb could host under 100 accoounts and at that small a number of hostees you couldn't even break even.
