Okay, so I've spent the past few days being almost literally connected to my server ( below10host ) via FTP and thru the control panel, working on a web application... and a few minutes ago it went down for about 15-20 minutes... couldn't connect at all, and several people couldn't either (across the nation, different connections - university, dialup, broadband, etc. in other words, the server or connection died)... i can't recall how many times this has happened, but it's happened enough to really get me on end...
then there have been really strange times... where i could connect via ftp and the control panel (uses a webbrowser, but not port 80) but not through port 80... with or without www in the domain (sometimes that has actually made a difference in whether i could connect or not).
am i the only one experiencing intermittent problems with below10host? i really loved the ability to tailor the monthly plan as i saw fit, as well as the really nice reviews about them from others... but i've been using them since May '01.

They have a good reputation around these parts. You can connect to ftp/control panel without your site working for alot of reasons more commonly because of apache.

Apache is a web server & if it fails still your FTP server can run. (two deamons running on the machine precisely)

Maybe your ISP is causing problems, because I have not been experiencing any downtime at all.

Well, I emailed Support and this is what they said:
We have been informed that one of the upstream providers was experiencing a DOS "Denial of service attack". Some sites were and may still be temporarily inaccessible while engineers work to block the attack. Sorry for the inconvenience. If there are other times that you can not access your site please let us know and send a trace route from your computer.

My site (http://www.glomar.net) is working, it was down for about twenty minutes.

So is this host worth considering if I like what they offer on their website? How's their support like and are there more happy customers than what I'm reading here?
Thanks

I've been real happy with below10 and especially their support. Unfortuanely, the problems seem to be with their noc, VDI. They had a fairly large problem about 6 months ago and now they seem to have some smaller problems. When things are going right they are great.

Glomar.net doesnt work for me.
Whilst VDI is having problems maybe you should consider a new host until VDI get there problems with the network sorted. Because you'll only end up with a drop in visitors to your site.

Well it does for me. I don't know what is wrong for you, maybe your ISP.

What's wrong with you? Why are you so ignorant? You completely ignore facts and blame it on every other factor just because you have decided to think in a certain way. It's just as foolish as your political beliefs.
And every time I have challenged something like this you just ignore my posts because you are always outwitted.

And just like your unrealistic political beliefs.
I didn't say what was wrong with him... I said what is wrong for him. Get it right! The tone is completely different just by one word.
Anyways, I asked 3 other people you ignorant person... three other people and they did not have any problems accessing my site.
Maybe you should look at the facts, before you open up your ignorant mouth.

It's funny because you're losing out if you lose visitors, not me. I'm being objective, you're being emotional.
(PS: You lose again.)
