We want to create a web hosting company for personal and proffesional pages. We should open a colocation account or acquire dedicated server?
We want Linux and to have control panel for us and our clients.
Which companies do you sugest?

You might want to look into reselling hosting.
Lots of companies now offer a reseller plan....it would be low overhead costs for you....most resellers handle all billing and support for their clients, and they are able to purchase plans at a discount, and then resell.
Just a suggestion :)

I suggest you start from reselling. Specially when you have lesser expereince with hosting It will be a tough ask for you to provide good technical support. Get started on reselling & have that valuble expereince behind you before moving to dedicated options.
Good companies to start off:
a.) Linux/Unix (Pre defined plans)

b.) Linux/Unix (Space reselling)

c.) WinNT/Win2000

If you have experience running an NT, FreeBSD, or Mac server, you might as well get some loyal customers to sign up with you advance, give them a deal, and lease out with a frac T1 from Sprint, @home, or ANS net. You can grow to a T1, T3, DS line, and then OC-x (if you get really big) from there. I would only recommend this if you like to work with the system yourself and run the show yourself, and you have the time on your hands to devote to running the servers yourself. If not, or you're not at a position to do this full time, then reseller hosting might be a better option. One place I recommend for a good price is http://www.rackshack.net ... they have the best co. server prices I've seen for a while...just be careful with your throughput, and make sure you make test accounts first to ensure each user has a hard limit on bandwidth if you do co. servers, lest you pay the excess! (been there once by a co. misconfiguration with a user account who used well over their limit)...
Best of luck :)
