if you want a free hosted message board try http://www.proboards.com/index.html they have pretty nice boards for free and full customizable...

I recommend Aimoo. The fee is $30 per 6 months, but you won't find any message board service better. They have a much better layout than any of the mentioned boards, plus, they worked much harder...The rest just hosted YaBB boards, which you could simply get for free without ANY ads.
