Does there exist a forum like this but where ppl don't have to register? I'm talking about forums like those on http://www.cgispy.com , but a litte more extensive.

I don't know why everybody is recommending scripts. I mean, wouldn't it be easier to just let it be hosted by someone? No scripts/mods to install, plus it doesn't waste the precious webspace that you need! If you're looking for boards that don't require registration, then there are TONS! Almost all remote hosts allow users to post anonymously. If you want one similar to CGISpy.com WITHOUT ADS, try:
http://www.lakotaweb.com/wboard/index.html
It's ad-less, at least last time I checked. :)
Otherwise, you can choose from the many boards listed here:
http://freeboards.topcities.com
The site is still in BETA (in other words, I haven't worked on images or ANYTHING, but some of the important info has been done already. You can check pretty much all of the Top 15 and get complex boards that allow guests to post. :)

Ikonboard is not recommended. It's easy to install, but it's not easy to use for your users.

most of the boards are pretty similar. so no matter which one you choose it won't be that diff.

But Ikonboard and Burning Board are more confusing, nonetheless.

Scripted forums are ok, but not everyone can install and/or run them, hosted forums are also easier.
As for confusion, I dont find Ikonboard any more confusing than any of the others ive used.

Ikonboard not confusing? The first time I used it, everything was so confusing. You can't really get the statistics to each category easily, nor can you "warp" to the last post in each category like in vBulletin and Aimoo. Who cares how many replies a category has? All we need to know is topics/messages. This information is irrevelant. Also, the topic description thing is useless and unnecessary. That's not to mention they don't even have a member list. Plus, in their help file, they have a spelling mistake which threw me off (Messanger and Messenger). Continuing along, their "post" screen doesn't list out the "menus" where you can easily input Ikoncode and Smilies for beginner users. That's not the sign of a professional looking board at all.

I must say I prefer phpBB over Ikonboard and burningboard.
