1. Upload file to server
2. Edit config.php (or something)
3. Add the correct DB dump to your database
4. Make yourself an admin
5. DONE

You might want to check the offical website for the best help. But phpbb was never all that hard to setup. Make sure you got all the paths right in conf.inc.php or whatever its called in this version. then run the setup or install file.

actually there is, they setup phpbb2 forum for beta testers of phpbb2 and it they pinned how to install it and other info on it, though I wouldn't recommend you try it until they complete phpbb2

Get phpBB2 for the official site: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7885 (RC1) http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/phpbb/phpBB-2.0-RC1-pre.zip .
BTW, And there is NO install file. You will have to import the SQL dump with phpMyAdmin.
[edit]
In RC1 there DOES seem to be an install file.

Hi,
PHPbb2 is now available. Search the forum http://area51.phpbb.com and you'll find the url of the zip file.
It now comes with installation instructions and an install.php file.
Takes seconds to setup!!
I've got it working like a dream and have only found one minor bug so far. http://www.cgidevelopers.com/
