Someone using the @Home ISP used a port probe on my computer.

Luckily, i had my firewall up and it blocked the probe. If this is you then stop, or i'll report you to @Home.

If you think this is a joke, I have your IP address:
24.42.40.**

I only censored it because this is a public forum.

Man... All of us who use a firewall know that a computer gets probed like 50 times a day.

Are you going to start a new thread for each one?

What is a probe in general?

American Heritage Dictionary

probe n. 1. An exploratory action, expedition, or device, especially one designed to investigate and obtain information on a remote or unknown region: electronic probes into the crust of the earth. 2. A slender, flexible surgical instrument used to explore a wound or body cavity. 3. The act of exploring or searching with or as if with a device or an instrument. 4. An investigation into unfamiliar matters or questionable activities; a penetrating inquiry: a congressional probe into price fixing. See Synonyms at inquiry. 5. A space probe.

It's from probare from Latin, which means to test.
