I got an email from NameZero offering me the domain I registered with them (my first name) for $4.95. Just thought I should let you guys know.

Are you sure it's not $14.95? With the "1"?

yep, I got that $4.95 offer as well..

they keep sending me emails to renew my domain, and the price keeps changing. first it was $34.95, then $19.95, then $34.95, then $14.95, and now it's $4.95...

if it dips as low as $1.95, then I might renew it.. :biggrin2:

So is it $4.95 for the first renewal or per year?

Will the domain be yours after you pay or will it stay Namezero's?

I think it's for the first year only. The domain will be mine if I renew it which I won't.

5 $ is too low I don't think they will give the ownership to you at that price are your sure about it?

yup, the email says the domain that if I renew at $4.95, the domain will be under my name..

however it also says: "You also have the chance to extend your registration term for 2 or 5 years at great prices". I doubt those renewals will be as cheap as $4.95...

o wait. I forgot to read one part of the email..

"The domain will be yours through the end of its current registration period (our records show 05-JUL-02)."

So I guess it's not a complete year's renewal, but I guess it's cheap enough if I want to nab to domain and transfer it elsewhere..

The issue is ownership joksky, you don't own that domain, they could redirect it somewhere else tomorrow and 'your' domain would be no more.

I was tempted with the great offer and renewed my site 2 months before with them for $4.95, so far no problem at all. I used my Credit card to pay. Will they charge me more??

No, they won't - they shouldn't.

I suggest you transfer out as soon as the 60 day limit for domain transferring is up.

i suggest that u read the fine prints very carefully
if the price of a domain name is below $6, they won't b making any money
verisign, the company that controls .com .net and .org, charges all registrars $6 for each domain name that is sold...so in order for them to make any profit, it must be above $6

this $4.95 must be a limited time or 1st year only offer

It's pretty obvious that the $4.95 offer is only available for a limited time, and most likely for only a year's worth of registration. Who would want to stick with them after getting ownership of their domains anyway? You have absolutely no control over your domains there.

This is what I did when I got the same offer in the e-mail:
I paid them the $5 with a CC, and two days later, the domain was in my name. As soon as that was set, I transfered the domain to t35.com, although it literally took me hours to get everything I need in the netsol's site. Now, I'm a happy man :)
