they won't allow paid ads any more... this is really going to suck going from the best hosting ever to someone else all because of a few bucks... but i need some money, and im not old enough to work...

so, what is the next best thing after twu? im looking for as much space as i can get, either perl with ssi, or perl with php, domain hosting is not required but wanted, ads on the top of every page is a big no no, i must be able to place paid ads...

damn i wish twu could just change their mind because their hosting is so perfect... domain hosting, sub domains of your domain, cgi, ssi, php, unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth to a certain point, great tech support, this just really sucks...

Why not email them and explain to them that you need the money. Why not make a deal to include their ads in your banner rotator. My friend emailed Xoasis and they removed the ads from his domain. You just have to ask. The worst that could happen is that they say no...

All that TWU asks is share 10% of what you get out of banner clicking and leads. Fair enough, no? After all you use their services for free!
If you get only peanuts, scrape a teensy layer out of it with your thumbnail and fling at your benefactor. Simple!
But what is intriguing is that TWU wants all the cgi scripts you wish to run should be sent to them for approval-otherwise "noexec" for scripts!
Cheers!

These folks allow banners paying you money:
Hypermart-Virtualave twins - 20MB
Portland
F2S
All of them have full cgi&SSI and the last 2 have php too.
Try them.
Cheers!

Well, I'm on twu(which I'm probably going to leave because of the fact that cgi scripts will now have to go through an approval system), and what they said in their newsletter is perfectly logical. Why in the **** would they want you to have banners on THEIR server that pay YOU when you get THEIR service FREE?

On the other hand, why the **** WOULDN'T they allow users to place their own paying banners onto sites? It isn't really taking their bandwidth or making them look bad as far as I can see.

I am puzzled at the whole thing. At one time we are told that it is run by a single individual all by himself out of his pocket and there is no organization. But another message boasts of multiple admins. If you read all the messages and the faq, it appears to be an one-man affair and the indications are that one fine morning the angry young genius will close it down, if he feels so!
It will be a sad day!
