Sadly I have to admint to using AIM :(. I find ICQ to much of a hassel and since I've never used it the interface isn't very intutive. I'll stick to to much simpler AIM for now.

AOL IM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Pager. I have them all; however, I recently got my hads on an unreleased staff version of aim 4.4 and it is by far the best im'er out there.

I like AIM the best, also chekc out Jabber, it combines all these instant messaging programs into one. It's open source and still has lots of bugs, but the idea is great. You can find out about it at http://www.jabber.com and http://www.jabber.org

The newer versions of ICQ are really, really similar to AIM. They have buddy lists (which can be divided into co-workers, friends, family, etc.), and a window option where everything you and the other person say stays in the same window. It is very similar to AOL.
The only problem is that they've gotten loaded with features that nobody needs. I mean, who would use ICQ for e-mail? (no offense intended if you do). Who wants to send greeting cards over ICQ? The result is about a 5 MB download for a program that used to only be 500K or so.
Most of my friends have AIM, so I use both. Maybe I'll look into jabber. That sounds pretty cool.

That's a cool feature! I like ICQ 2000b because it's got free SMS sending! (very useful), ICQ phone (also very useful), IRC style chat (ok) and greeting cards!
Now all it needs is buddy icons and loose it' AOL connections and I'd be happy! ;)

ICQ... no contest with me. I have AIM, but I really don't like it at all, I only have it because more people around here have it than ICQ.

I like AIM with the SuperAIM plugin. It tabs ALL of your instant messages in one aim window, so I can be talking to 25+ people all in one window :D.

It's just my friends... they aren't as 'computer literate' as I am, and AIM is easier, I guess. As I said, I prefer ICQ.

Never tried AIM, but I liked ICQ when it first came out, but now it's so bloated and huge that it takes forever to download, and then it slowed down my old system to where it was untolerable. MSN Messenger is nice... I might try AIM, one of these days if it's not too big. :)

PowWow is my fav
i use M$N mostly though because thats what all my friends use. I deleted ICQ because it always caused a BSOD, and i might be temted to to something bad if i kept it.

Some new ifaces, beefed up alerts, different colored names in chat so you dont get confused, message logging, and some other stuff to. I deleted it off my account so I hope everyone that IMed/emailed for it got it :D.
