Free Foreign Domains... [Archive]

Okay, the MU people got wise to the situation... Of course .COM.RU's are still free...

I think there may be another... I've been playing around with the e-mail forms (very similar to RIPN) for getting .KG domains and I think I think I'll be able to do it...

Just wanted to post this, as I seem to be the expert on free foreign domains around here... I'll let you know if I succeed...

The KG mail server seems to be down at the moment :(

SZ domains also appear to be free, but you have to snailmail a contract to Swaziland or wherever the hell that is... Could be worth it - almost all the the good SZ domains are still available...

Couple others I'm looking into...

I actually wasn't looking for free domain names today, just ran across these along the way... I'm willing to pay if there's any country that has the domain I want... I think Guernsey has it but they use a mailform system so I have to wait to find out...

BTW anyone know how much £49 is in US$?

I'll probably put a script up... It's the same thing as RIPN, just a little different format... Though their servers don't seem to be quite as reliable (down again now... have to wait until tomorrow to try for domains...but what do you expect from kyrgyzstan...)

Did you get an organization and maintainer through? Domains are simple once you have those set up... I register a new .com.ru every couple days and never have any errors...

Still waiting on KG...

Whoa! Wouldn't think so many people could post about ripping off foreign countries without being hammered by some law abiding forum user. Instead of a getting a com.ru, what difference does it make to get some other redirecting URL? Like -------- or da.ru or something? And once you register these names, where are they hosted and point to?

for the registration of .com.ru's the Organization field must be one word. I always used to get errors becuase of that. Woofcat. can you make a notice on your site to that

Are they really for anyone who wants them? I just figured that it would be illegal to register an international domain if you don't live in that country.

Indeed... Russia's site very clearly indicates that you do not have to be a resident of Russia to register a domain there.
