I haven't made any graphics for the past few months and I've forgotten how to add text to a graphic without it getting smudged when saved.

Could someone help me out here please? I don't want to reduce my colors and it's a .jpg.

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7. I know how to make it unsmudgy with .gif's (Colors >> Set Palette Transparency >> No Transparency) but this is a jpg, and as I said earlier, I don't want to reduce the colors, which saving as a gif will do :(

Don't anti-alias. Or use bitmapped fonts. Or don't compress so much. :)

Uh, maybe I misunderstand the problem

Try adding a drop shadow 1*1, that will clarify it just that little bit, without it appearing as a dropshadow on the text.

The reason they look "smudgey" is because you were using anti-aliasing, like meow said. Disable that and you'll have clear, crisp text.
