After reviewing all the free webhosts that has been discussed, I was wonder the following:

Which one has all of the following:

1. Good storage space
2. Absolutely NO ads/banners/or pop-ups
3. Has CGI-BIN and PHP/MyQSL data base
4. So called "unlimited" bandwidth
5. And FAST & Reliable
6. And of course FREE

none, or at least none that will last. the closest you can come is

http://www.portland.co.uk (but has 100mb bandwidth limit and isn't the fastest) or
http://www.netcabins.com (has user placable banner ads)

If your not paying for the bandwidth ad advertising aren't paying for the bandwidth, who's going to pay for it? I don't know to many host that don't mind cutting massive checks that don't benefit them in the slightest. Why must people think they can get what should cost $30/month for free?

-Post not aimed at anyone, just getting sick of requests like this.

Does anyone know where I can get unlimited bandwidth, unlimited drive space, and Xeon Quad Processor 5 gigahertz servers with unlimited RAM for FREE so I can afford host people like him?

I guess it was a stupid question....no need to get hostile. Maybe I should think a little bit more before I post such a question.

I can see where you are coming from, Curiosity.
Some people around here get fed up with the same question being asked quite often, and have little patience for it. I think that these "impatient'experts'" should think about it too, and explain nicely, even if it is the 30th time, why it is not possible, and if there is such a server that it wont last for long.

- Unlimited Space: Hard drives might be cheap, but money doesn't come easily on a commercial free server, and besides, explain to me one site that would need unlimited space. Not even Yahoo! needs that much....

- Unlimited Bandwidth: Not possible on a commercial free server, hell, it's not possible on a paid server. Once again, tell me a site that would need unlimited bandwidth...

- CGI/ASP/PHP/etc...: Some of these might be easy to setup, yet they cause the server to bog down a lot more so it's hard to offer on a commercial free server.

- NO ADS: Ah, the thing everyone wants. Well, considering servers can cost upwards of $3,000, bandwidth is not cheap, fast connections aren;t cheap, people need to be paid to help setup the server in most cases, etc etc etc. There are so many costs that this is usually only possible as a division of a very large company that has the millions to spare.

A better word for "unlimited" would be "unmetered;" I've seen pay hosts offer "unmetered" traffic or "unmetered" storage space.

Unmetered means the same thing ... Just another lie.

Well, what's wrong with being nice enough not to place a hard limit on storage or bandwidth? Technics, you need to start to appreciate the kindness of hosts like Crosswinds and Stas.net instead of slamming them down with "There's no such thing as 'unlimited;' these hosts are scam artists, etc."

Cracker, he's right. I won't argue this, it just doesn't make sense, and thus if you choose to believe it, the best to you.

There is not *one* service avaible paid or free that can nor will be offered in 'unlimited' quantities. Email addresses unlimited? No way. Sorry, but you just aren't going to be allowed to run a hotmail service on even your paid host. They won't let you.

So really, there *is* a limit. It may be large, maybe 1,000 email boxes, maybe 10,000, but there *is* a limit.

Like I said, if you or anyone else chooses to believe that unmetered or unlimited (which is th same in my book) really exists, then I'll just have to agree to disaggree and let that be the end of it.
