OHOHOH!
I have a question about this too!
I have 3 network cards, but no hub, no switch and no router
can I connect them with 2 cables and 1 modem?

If you have old network card that has two jacks.. you can connect it with 2 coaxial cables in bus mode..
in this cade.. you need 1 more network card or 1 more modems.
For ex you have com A B C
network card A<--- lan cable --->network card B
modem A<--- tel ---> modem C
Make A into server. open connection by lan and modem..

Can I do that?
I have 2 PC,
PC 1 has 1 network card
PC 2 has 2 network cards
PC 1 connect to PC 2
PC 2 connect back to PC 1 and connect to the modem (that's why I need 2 network cards for PC 2)
Can I do that?
And I think I need speical cable for connecting PC to PC.
What type of cable is that? cross-over?

I don't know you should use this topology..and that PC1 and PC2 are already interconnected.. why you should connect back to PC1... this is strange..

That's it.. set PC 2 as a server.. require one network card and one modem... connect PC 1 to PC 2.. PC 2 can give the modem access to PC 1 .. that's it.. one more thing.. it is true that you can't use normal lan cable that is used in connecting PC to hub... the wire connected at the connector is different.

A network card only have 1 cave for the cable to plug in... so I need 2 network cards for either one of the computer!!

I really don't understand.. you may need to find other expert..
1. PC 1 has a net card A connecting to net card B on PC 2
2. PC 2 use a COM port to connect to modem B
THen.. PC 1 can access modem B via PC 2

If you have lan card.. to connect PC 1 <-> PC 2.. it is just a normal lan cable but the jack (connector) wire differently from the one connecting to HUB.
to connect PC 2 to modem, if the modem is internal.. you don't need any cable because it is put inside the computer...
if it is external.. you need RS232 (serial port cable).

COM PORT is the other name of "SERIAL PORT".. used for many decades to connect devices to computer.. ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE IS PARALLEL PORT.. which you are using to connect your computer. I can't remember them in detail how it works sorry.. Use the internet.. ask the search engine..
