They arent that fast but that is one of their less important problems. The server is frequently down... sometimes for three weeks at a time.

All ad free hosts are like that. But I believe they have ads now. So they are probably waiting for the money to upgrade their servers.

Stas.net = Crosswinds with a frequently used file manager type (I've seen a 'Stas.net' like file manager used on 9ug.com, Sng.net - when they were alive, Sealteamsix, and other free hosts)
On a good note, Stas.net will host any file type known to man, no matter how large the file (hint, hint - .mp3's, .zip's, .exe's, .mov's, .avi's)
Take that, Streamload.com!

Allot of hosting companies including us buy software off the same company for running fwp's, 9ug uses it stas.net, angelcities. 50megs.com did till they got bought by about.com and they started using software from north sky. Allot of hosts use it, its good software.

Any file manager is bad software because FTP is far superior.

They don't know how to hack it and put FTP features to the script.

I still think a browser upload script which allows folder uploading would reduce the need for FTP. FTPing is a lot easier than browser uploading, but ad free hosts need money from somewhere, so visiting their site to upload would not be that bad.
