Does anyone know anything about them, or where they have vanished to?

Hello,

It does not look like a good sign, maybe they are just switching servers or something similar. How long has your site been down?

Around the 2 week mark.

They are probably gone. Sorry, but it doesn´t take a host that long to switch servers.

I know what happened. A whole series of unfortunate events and financial problems.

They were in kind of a catch-22 situation; they needed money for a control panel, but they needed a control panel to get customers, and, hence, money. With few customers, there was not a lot of money. Then came the communication problems between NDH and their co-lo provider. Their account was cancelled without notice, and none of thier emails have been answered. That effectively crippled all chances of starting out.

NetDotHost has found a new provider, but, at the moment, NDH is in another unfortunate situation- they need a small amount of money to get the server up and running, but none of thier customers is willing to pay anything in advance. (mo investors either)

They have a new webdesign, some new staff, and new servers, but not the capital to get going. The unfortunate story of many small businesses.

I can and will vouch for them; Excellent support and service.

Hope that answers it. I can answer any other questions.

PS- for those Who thought I had left... I was contacted about this thread and I felt I had to answer it :)

Thanks for the information, after talking with them over many emails i didnt think they would be the sort of people to just take your money and run.

Will they file for chapter 7 Backruptcy?

I dont think they will file for either. I may provide some financial assistance. They have what it takes to be a good host, and i feel investing in them, while probably not profitable, will not be a loss.

Don't worry, Bedford, I'm sure something will be worked out fairly soon :)

You probably will feel a profit in a year when the economy pulls itself out. I am sure the company will do well, Enron on the other hand... my dad used to work for enron... hated it.

How can a company afford to hire staff, afford a new web design and new servers but can not put the money needed into the business? Looks like a pour business model to me. If they had a proper business plan, they might stand a chance of getting a loan, but obviously they either don't, or they haven't exausted that option. I just don't see this business as a serious player.

Those are all valid points, evilhaze.

The staff is made up of a group of friends with the same interest- Starting a good webhost. The webdesign was done by a staff member.

You are also right in saying you dont see this business as becoming a serious player; NetDotHost, i think, is meant to stay small. If there is demand it will probably grow. I am not totally sure of this hosts motives, but I am sure it will be able to sustain itself once started.

In the current economic recession the demand in web hosting will not pick up, however I do predict a recovery at the 4th quarter of this year because of Bush tax cuts which will help stimulate the E-commerce and Internet sectors.

Yeah they are most likely gone if your site has been gone for 2 weeks. Thats a bummer. You should start looking again.
