Hey.
Is there a way to install Mandrake 8.1 from the hard-disk ?? cuz when I run the installation, its looking for a cd, and the install file are in my hard-drive...
Is there a way to do that :confused:
and if someone can explain "partitions for idiots" this will be great :D

In the Mandrake files, there is an application under dosutils called 'rawwrite.exe'
Run that to create a boot floppy and use /images/hd.img as the template for making the floppy. That will allow you to install linux from a folder on your HD

Rick, you an expert? :D
I just reinstalled Windows (twice actually :mad: ) and it overwrite my Mandrake booter, so I cant access linux, what do I do? :confused:

Hopefully, you have a boot floppy for linux so you can access it that way and reconfigure LILO or GRUB, otherwise, you'll have to reinstall linux, which isn't too bad, I suppose. If you re-install, only reformat the root, and swap partitions so you don't lose any data in your home directory.
