On the 22nd of december I ordered a hosting plan from --------.co.uk,I ticked the monthly payment,I late recieved an email containing the admin info (cp,ftp etc) it was all wrong.Today I recieved my credit card bill to find a whopping 50 pounds taken off of it.It was debited in australian dollars. Not only did they ---- up once, but they charged me for an annual plan.I'm contacting them and asking for conpensation, because me not being thr richest person has just spent 50 pounds a pile of ----,when I specifically did a monthly plan with 4 pounds a month,*NO SETUP FEES*.

on the signup page it says they charge you yearly for the plans...

(Due to our wholesale prices, FREE DOMAIN NAME, FREE SETUP & Commitment to Charity our only available billing frequency is Annual. The RESELLER plan is available Monthly)

i signed up with them on the 29th of december.

i am thinking of taking them to court about it, or reporting them to the TIO (Telcom Industry Ombudsman - the main authority in fair trading etc in Austrlia)

They are slower than just about any and every free host ive seen, and are appalling in their tech support. It took them over a week to reply to an email I sent regarding the shocking speed.

I wouldn't mind closing them down, but I have to see what happens.

Check out http://www.ausgeek.com for the site speed - its shocking

and due to the slow speed - i can't really work on the site cause its such a hinderance.

How many of you read the terms of service before you sign anything?

PAYMENT POLICIES
All accounts are set up on a prepay basis. --------.co.uk reserves the right to change prices of accounts or services at any time except in price freeze circumstances. Payment is due each anniversary year following the date the account was established. Customers will automatically be charged again at the end of their prepay period unless closure notification has already been given.

In situations where the card number on file is declined --------.co.uk will immediately suspend the facility to purchase services on-line until the outstanding charge is processed successfully. In addition, --------.co.uk reserves the right to suspend other services until the outstanding debt is cleared. The customer is responsible for all money owed on the account from the time it was established to the time that the customer sends a written cancellation request.

No bills or invoices will be sent by regular mail. All invoices will be sent directly to customers via email shortly after the online purchase has been made. At this point the customer's card will be charged automatically.

The monthly cost is what it rounds down to.

thefatkid, that was more directed at the thread starter and anyone else who just sign up without reading the terms, be it with a webhost, affiliate program, free email providers, anything in fact that requires a sign up form.

Good luck with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman ;)

Could this company be any worse, they have refunded me all the money apart from 12 pounds, this is because of the domain name, which they hold hostage anyway. He still blamed it on me even though their site is screwed,on the order form it says about the monthly thing yet when I emailed them they said you can pay monthly. They truly do suck and I'm getting my domain name back.
