View Full Version : How can I do this?

Hi everyone ^_^
On a lot of sites there are vertical and horizonal lines that stretch across the page. This is done by layers, right? (I've seen sexeral (confusing) how-2 sites that say layers are only viewable through Netscape, but I use IE! O_o)
Anyway, Does anyone know how to explain how to do this? I thought it would be an awfully long reply to tell me how to do it completly.... frustrating for to write too. So would it be easier to explain what I want... with a scetch or something???
Well, I hope what I'm asking isn't to moronic.. or to much to ask for O_O
Thanks and take care,

Well, there are a couple of ways to do this. From horizonaltal rules ( <HR> ) to tables. I think what you are looking for is a table solution.
Create a 1x1 pixel image of a certain color. Then create a table and have one of the rows use the image as a background. Make the table's row 100% and it will tile the image to create a line. Same works for columns.

Hi again ^_^
So.. doing what you said, I will have the effect simulare to these two sites?
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Ginza/4926/visual.htm
http://www.envy.nu/redsky/
Either of those two sites aren't exactly what I want, but the first one is diffinitly close.
Thank you for your help,

The lines you're talking about are from the striped background and some complex nested tables.

Yes I know..... That is about one of the most embarrassing typos I have ever made. v_v I really se no reason for you gettion on to me for it though. Hopfully everyone else will ignore it. Sorry for the nasty typo, it's very embarrassing for you to notice it! ;v_v; It's not as though I had sex on the mind or somthing... After all I was writing about tables and such. If you look, X is very close to V... So it was just a mistake.
Sorry to annoy you, Nick.

Why don't you edit your message and make it dissapear forever~~~
By the way, "v" and "x" is quite far... :p
So... Maybe something deep inside your brain has affected your typo...
nyek nyek nyek...
Sometimes explaining means covering the truth to some people (including me :P)

*lol* At least you've got the guts to admit having a demented brain (it IS a brain, isn't it? ;)) yourself... :)
BTW, I just checked out my keyboard (I rarely look at it) and saw that the 'v' is two blocks away from 'x'. Now how did you manage that? =) I also found some coke stains and crumbs inbetween the keys... oh, my... do I see a quarter down there? :D

Hehe...
Well, I think it is enough.
People should answer his questions and don't scare him off the board.
If he is gone, Nick will be sad to lose someone to show his humor :P

Maybe I should wait until people have at least ten posts to scare them  ;),
