I feel that the forum is getting slower and slower everyday... do you experience it too? I get irritated clicking the Submit New Thread about 10 times I post and get the 30 second limit.

The forum is always slow, for I am one of narrow bandwidth.

Giancarlo

This forum is slightly slow... and I use ADSL.

Bruce

The forum hasn't been slow lately, but whenever I submit a post I get this major lag for like 1 - 2 minutes before it finally posts.

Jan
January 29th, 2002, 22:08
Yeah that was happening to me yesterday when I was using IE, but it is okay today now I am back to Netscape.

Akalon
January 29th, 2002, 22:08

Use Netscape, it goes through instantly :classic2:

Bruce
January 29th, 2002, 22:45
Well I've been using Moz all along and getting the lag. I don't see why Netscape would turn up any different results.

I am replying to this with IE, I will see how it goes.

<edit> yes there is still a lag with IE, took 2 minutes on a 56k dialup to go through.
<edit 2> The edit went through immediately

It's probably just your connection and browser, because the forum is very fast on my end (@home with IE5.5)

if it costs like $1. You can never have enough modems, plus my modem company (KTX) went bankrupt and im stuck with a 56k that downloads at 3.6kb/s max, because i cant find any drivers for it!

Very slow, yes. My replies take forever to be uploaded to the server.

Somehow, the board is even slower with Netscape. Don't know how that's possible, but...

My case is different from Giancarlo's, for me other forum doesn't lag at all, except this forum. Sometimes when I wait 5 mins, do other stuff, still showing the posting page...

With Netscape, there's a 2 minute lag while Netscape opens. And then another 2 minute lag any time I want to open a new window or switch between windows. And yet another 2 minute lag after I click the close button out of frustration.

I never noticed any lag here... either I didn't post during that time, or it just seemed like normal since I'm connected at 28.8kbps.

my computer/Dialup networking/your connection/properties/general/modem/configure/connection/advanced.

Type string into modulation type.

coldturkey
February 1st, 2002, 00:23
modulation type is a drop down menu (see attachment), i put it in extra settings, will that work?

<edit>
forgot attachment ('http://coldturkey.g33.net/temp.jpg')

That's it :) Good luck! I often have to ring my ISP for some hiccups and they are very good at giving modem strings for particular problems.

Always restart the computer after changing stuff in there though.

Downloading a file would probably be best, but you couldalso go on over to http://pcpitstop.com

That goes for me too...

I'm on cable with an avg. of 1.3-1.6mbps down and sometimes I can't even access the site. That's been happening for himm a few days now. At first it doesn't work, than I refresh and wala, it works. Only this site does it, so it's not my cable.

Hmm strange.
