I heard you can get a free .ru domain, but where can you get one? thanx

it ic .com.ru, .net.ru, .org.ru, and .pp.ru like i have nic.com.ru, us.com.ru, windows.pp.ru, us.com.ru, movies.com.ru, twc.com.ru, linux.pp.ru, imail.com.ru, hockey.com.ru, headlines.com.ru, guitars.com.ru, freewebspace.com.ru, esports.net.ru, computer.net.ru, computers.net.ru, basketball.com.ru, baseball.com.ru, ads.com.ru, and 411.com.ru (i went on a .com.ru spree).

Oh and none of these sites are developed so if you are looking i will let you develop a site on these domain, rent these, or buy one of them. just contact me at epgs@nic.com.ru

well spark if you want a .com.ru etc... domain not a tld (i.e. whatever.ru) then go to http://www.woofcat.com/russia.php and follow the directions

you could always go to http://www.da.ru for an even shorter extension than .com.ru [url.da.ru], although thousands of subdomains have already been taken. they do allow you to delegate subdomains to your own chosen pair of nameservers, so you can handle your own mail, etc... just like a real domain.

ok if I get a domain at da.ru can I use nameservers with a domain host (netfirms for example) so myname.da.ru will go to my page on the server and myname.da.ru/something.html points to myname.netfirms(or someother host).com/index.html?

no, you're thinking of domain forwarding with url cloaking and path forwarding i think. da.ru subdomains delegated to nameservers act as a real domain.

no I meant a real domain. so how can I get a .da.ru domain to act as a real domain with netfirms.

Now I don't know about netfirms, but if you've ever registered a domain, you know what you have to put in the nameservers section. This seems to be exactly what you would do with .da.ru

If you've never done this, or don't know how nameservers work, then that's something I help you with.

I don't know much about netfirms, but maybe someone else does. Not sure what/how they/you direct your name.

ok I was just using netfirms as an example. Once I have the nameservers for my host, what do I enter in the da.ru settings?
