Is it possible to have both linux and windows running on the same system without harddrive partitions or on seperate harddrives?

Yes, but you'll have to run Linux under windows (means not fast and many other,...) , this is about the "without partitions" thing.
You can always install Linux on a second drive. I have never tried this, but I have read about it.
