I just reformatted my harddrive so I could install a fresh installation of XP. So now I got XP, but I need to transfer mp3's that I had on an old CD. The CD isn't closed so that I can't read on a normal CD-ROM, and I need Roxio DirectCD to use it but XP won't let it work... is there any updates I can download?

Also, I installed GTA2 and Tony Hawk's 2 and niether worked :(

Thanks

Go to http://www.real.com and download RealOne Media Player, then you can burn/rip CDs from there (At least I think you can rip them.)
BTW It's a Roxio (Adaptec) Easy CD Creator Plugin

Also, you can run programs under compatability mode for other windows systems like 95, 98, ME, etc. by
Right-clicking the EXE file(s),
Selecting Properties,
Then selecting "Run This Program In Compatability Mode" and selecting the Windows OS the program was designed for.

I'm looking for Roxio XP patches at the moment...

Compatability mode didn't help the games work either.

GTA2 won't work on 2000 or XP.

It simply means... "XP refuses to run Tony Hawk's 2, and there's nuthin you can do about it"

Get the Win2k patch for GTA2.

It works perfectly on my Win2k partition, and my mate tried it on his XP and GTA2 now works fine in it; I havn't bothered trying it yet myself.

As for the CD stuff... what exactly are you trying to do? I got a bit confused there.

Ok, will try...

Well I have a CD that I burnt a while ago, but I didn't close it so it can be read on any drive. It can only be read on a cd-writer drive, and I need DirectCD to view the files on it but DirectCD won't work on XP.

Anyway, I got it figured out. I have to *buy* the latest version of Easy CD Creator Platinum and install the XP Patch. I'm just getting it off morpheus :D

Try changing the compatibility on the program. With XP, you can make a program run as if it was on Win95, Win98, WinXP, Dos, WinMe, Win2K.
