Sometime next week, they're cutting all free accounts to a measly 10 mb webspace with 500 mb monthly traffic! If you want more space, it will cost you $3.49/month. Read about it in the "News and Updates" section of http://forums.demented.org/ .

that's just too bad. It seems that the only stable unlimited webspace provider left now is Host.sk. Lucky that I had 2 accounts there before they changed their policy

Let's not forget Crosswinds.net. They suck but they've been around forever. However, they're not accepting any new free accounts as of now, due to abuse.

When will free hosts realize that they cannot offer unlimited space?

The only way hosts can offer "unmetered" space is if they either have a very low file size limit (like T35) or if the warez stops (damn warez freaks going around depleting free resources, I hate them, I WANT TO KICK THEM IN THE NUTS!).

demented.org just want money every month for their connection, they are just here to make money, if they dont get enough money now also, then they may change to paid hosting..

It really disturbs me people want it all for free. When will you all realize webspace and (especially) data transfer (some call it bandwidth) is expensive. Ofcourse they want to earn money: these kind of companies are commercial companies and offer webspace, not for you but for $. We are not talking about charitative institutions here. I do admit ... warez and mp3's screwed up the market ... without these kind of abusers, free webspace would look different these kind of days. Also do not underestimate the collapsing ad market on the web. In the past it was possible to make a lot of money displaying ads on your website. Nowadays it's not.
Anyway ... if you want a professional website: accept you will have to pay for it in one way or another ... free webspace is dying.
