I was thinking more in the lines of Freelancing. Just where I make the web site, set up a plan and all that good stuff and then get customers. but I am thinking only like 2 or 3 sites for now. I just need to know about how much to charge per month. would $40 be too much or could I charge more?

Per month?
Yes
Do you mean hosting?
No.. I mean making the web site for them, hosting it, and buying them a domain name. They just have to pay me (per month), tell me what to put on the site, and give me an idea of what they want it to look like.

So you make small-medium sites only and they give you $200 per month or per year?

Well first of all it depends what type of sites they are and if they need the content to be bang upto date or if the content should be upto date but it doesn't matter if it is a day or two behind for example! It also depends on the amount of content a site has, if it is content heavy it is mor elikely to take up a lot more of your time

I build one site, I dont update it...
If they want to update it, I build them some php beckend so they will update by themselves (+ extra $).

What about a one month plan or something like that? You talk to your client and find out what sort of site they want. You ask for stuff like colour scheme's, etc and content which should be included. You make something for them and then you go and show it to them. If they want changes made and so on you do it and keep on doing it until the site is finnished. I would charge per hour of your time your client uses up. This could be something like 10 pounds an hour. 1 pound is about $1.5. I'm sure someone here can do a better conversion than me. Also you could charge for hosting/finding a host, etc.

I think that charging $$ per hour is for scripting work.
(Im not going to build "online shop" for someone for 200$ ,it will be at least 20$ for 1 hour)

I was thinking more along the lines of this....
I make the web site, give them a domain name, and pay for the host. The site will come with...
A limitedf number of web pages then I can add more for like an extra dollar per month per extra page.
I will load Newspro on so they can post news or whatever.
I will also only update the site like twice per month and they can pay like an extra $10 for an extra update.
This is the plan that I want to do. MY problem is I need some good numbers. I think I can work a monthly fee out with the customer. Would 20 web page be enough? And is $10 too much for an extra update?

Because of this thread I am going to make an attempt of doing this myself. If it goes well enough then I may show you so you so can get some ideas. My site will offer hosting too. I will get the hosting from another company but I may actually get donhost to do it so I can be my own host. That way I can design my own hosting packages. I've heard they delete lots of sites though.

Hi Mitch :)
When you have worked out all the fine details, you can put an advertisement in the Ads and Offers forum (http://www.freewebspace.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=28)

Or he can get a review first in the review my site forum. Thats better so that he can put the finnished product in the ads an offers forum so that it is perfect.
