Hi all,

I'm curious, that aside from Verisign, what is the benefit of a static IP? I'm running a forum, and with my current host, i'm not assigned a static IP. But i'm about to switch over to Myacen, and i noticed that they do offer the static IP for an extra $2 a month... i'm just wondering what hte benefits are, and if it's worth getting it.

The only reason you would need a static IP is for SSL. If you don't need that then there is really no need for one.

Static IP - SSL (Secure Server)
Anonymous FTP
Wildcards enabled
Sometimes needed for Sub-domains

Are you talking about a static IP vs dynamic IP, or a shared vs dedicated IP? There's a biig difference.

He's talking about a dedicated IP-hosting, not broadband.

Well the most common reason we get that people need a dedicated IP is "Becuase I want one". So I suppose that could be added to the list?

BTW: IP's are an endangered species! Set THEM FREE DAMNIT!
