They're dying. Parts of their letter they sent to all RR members:
...our previous Advertising Network partner has discontinued our Advertising arrangement. As such, we are forced to take drastic measures to ensure the continued existence of RedRival, and your sites........RedRival will not be able to function past the current month.........popups will be introduced on member pages!!!
Sad.... I used to really like RedRival. :(

Hah! Another one bites the dust! I knew that if Crosswinds couldn't do it, then Redrival couldn't either. I told you it was those bastard advertising agencies who were to blame for the introduction of pop-up ads on Crosswinds, and now for the future introduction of pop-ups on RedRival.

Well, they're still trying to work out some solutions there. The pop-ups are a worst case scenario. I know that it's not what Matt wants. It's just very hard to give services away make it work out financially at all.

I knew it. There is no such thing as an ad free host. Eventually, all ad-free hosts will use some kind of ads...

Hello,
I just read this thread, and I must say, I'm laughing very hard.
The quote by LeX entirely misrepresents the meaning of the email sent out to RedRival members.
Where it says "........RedRival will not be able to function past the current month.........", that is actually something to the effect that _if_ RedRival will not be able to function past the end of any month, in which we might be in, due to decreased revenues from advertising, popups would have to be implemented.
Also, "popups will be introduced on member pages!!!" is, as I said above, not a true statement and is a misrepresentation of the email. As I said above, popups may be introduced if revenues can not support RedRival.
As I've always said, though, deeds speak. I just wanted to clarify the email sent to RedRival members. RedRival is still ad-free and I hope it to remain so for many years to come.
Thanks,
bye...
