View Full Version : Digging up of old threads

I think that some of the members here are getting very worked up over digging up of old threads. I suggest that these people simply just ignore the threads and continue on. I mean, what's the point of telling people off over minor matters and make everyone unpleasant because of the fact that you simply disapprove of bringing up old threads?

Are you referring to me by any chance?

Some old threads are good. Maybe thats why they are brought up. I don't think peo has made a rule against it so technically there is nothing wrong with it as long as it agrees with all the other forum rules.

That's right, but I see everyone blaming a member (perhaps more often than not, a newbie)for digging up old threads. I feel that that is unacceptable.

How hard is it to actually read the date of a post?

I don't think threads should be brought up... if they are an old issue then they shouldn't.

The problem with it is, people dig up ancient threads just to say something like "haha me too"... how can that be acceptable? And if we don't tell the archaeologists we don't like what they're doing, would they ever know they were doing something wrong? Not likely, since it would seem to them nobody has any problems with his digging. And it would be highly possible that they will continue to dig up dead threads, which is very annoying.

If they want to express something about the topic, they ought to start a new thread.

Then people should just tell them nicely that they shouldn't bring up these old threads, instead of lashing at them.

People don't respond to polite suggestion, you've got to scream at them to make them hear.

This is, of course, since my locking suggestion hasn't been taken up...

I have no problems about digging up old threads. In fact, I support people doing that if they have something to say. However, I do have a huge problem with digging up old threads for no reason at all. I've seen that some people have dug up posts just because "it is history". How stupid is that? If you have nothing to add, don't spam.

If you have something to add and the thread's been dead for six months it's no longer active, start a new one.

Exactly. Just don't bring up an old thread... I mean when one is brought up I usually don't look at it.

I guess this can be counted as a poll. I agree with The Red Guy though. I feel that forums should be free talk.

No one's saying don't post what you have to say, just don't post it in a thread so old everyone involved in it's already considered it a closed matter.
