If I say..bought DreamWeaver 4 UltraDEV, would I be considered scum? I mean, some people just like NotePad, others like editors, the true coders are the ones who use NotePad, but..would anyone think of me less, if I used an editor? Or, any webmaster..

A lot of people may say they code in Notepad. Go to the "review" forum and view source of some sites and see for yourself how many that look hand coded. :p
I say use what fits you needs and your personality. I hate cleaning up generated code so I don't use HTML editors but there's nothing wrong with it if it suits you and you can handle it.

It all comes down to personal choice and what works best for you. If you want to use WYSIWYG that's fine.
I learnt a lot about html by using a WYSIWYG editor and viewing the source. I still use one and any additions or corrections that are needed later are done with an html editor.

Stupid question really.
Dreamweaver can be used to quicken up the simple task that even WYSIWYG editors cant mess up. Creating frames and tables etc.
or preveiwing your pages as you make them rather than saving them and loading up IE or Netscape or anyother browser that takes your fancy.
They are also great for when you dont have the time to do the code by hand and want to knock out a quick site or page for something.

I use notepad myself...
but then it doesn't make a difference really...
as long as u cut out all the rubbish code it generates after u use it, its fine....

I'm using Ultra Dev 4 currently, it's pretty solid, I see no mistakes, it's actually better than my own coding, and far more browser compatible :-), I couldn't be happier, but I still miss NotePad's easy interface ;-)

I do one of two things:
- Hand-code in Notepad, save as .html page, and view it every once in a while
- Use some type of editor (like the one that HomeFree has) that gives me a "preview" of my site as I'm coding it.
I never use WYSIWYG editors.

Personally, I'm completely against WYSIWYG editors. No freedom.

Just use your WYSIWYG editor and when you want to give the final touch open something like the HTML Kit. This is the way I work things out. Even if I never managed to finish a site!:D
