Search engine spiders are like bots ... they look all over your site .. and add it ...

Well here's an expanded definition. A spider is something which a search engine uses to index sites. Indexing sites means that it adds those sites to the search engine so that they appear in results. The spider basically looks through the html of sites and then checks for links. It indexes all the pages it finds and follows all the links and adds them pages too. You can sometimes have settings so that it only indexes pages on a certain domain name. Good enough definition?
