i was browsing www.hotwired.com and when i was reading an article on Animation at http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/98/32/index0a.html?tw=multimedia i saw this big ad was pasted on the middle of the article and it slowly faded away. i thought that was the coolest ad i've seen lol. i have no idea how it works. i think it might have to do with the corresponding banner on the top of the page (the ads were for a barnes & noble book)

i dunno, if i'd like these type ads for free web hosting, but i think they are pretty effective in getting your attention heh.

EDIT: i clicked on the banner, and it dropped down a window with info on the book, though i don't know how (it only shows on some pages) it puts the ad in the middle of the page and fades it away

hmm, anyone know the term for that type ad (if you what it is heh)?
we got pop-ups, banners, pop-behinds, and the ones i don't know if they have a name to are the little ones in the corner that geocities uses and then the ones that float around on the page (ugh) and the footer ads, gee how many type of ads are out there? ;)

yup, looks dhtml to me...

tho personally, I don't like ads, so I don't class this one as 'cool'...
