I had same ideas to start my own site which would consist games cheat codes.
The problem is where to get them. Is it OK to make just copy & paste from other sites. Of course, thay may have been doing hard work to collect this and I'm just copying the material. They wouldn't probably allow this.

Cheat codes are anyway defined by game manufacturers. I can not invent my own codes. So actually there is no copyright. Would it be better to but change the order of words and vocabulary within search codes?! I don't think so...
What does Netiquette btw say about this?
Any comments?

As long as you are not copying any images or copyrighted materials there should be no problem

That is not legal. If you rewrite all the cheats it will be allowed.

I had a gaming site, and I asked about.com they said it wasn't legal.

You should just re-write them to be safe.

rewrite cheats? are you trying to tell this guy to reprogram the games to accept new cheats?
BTW, shawn, what happened to that free web space you were going to offer?!?

Rewrite as in change the wording of the instructions to activate the cheat.

for example, the original text went: "iddqd - god mode" you can rewrite it into "for god mode :: iddqd" etc. I'm sure that won't be too hard, eh??

Or maybe you can change it into a nice looking table.
