Now i don't trust micro$oft at all....hell, like i said, i'll probably get mandrake or suse and reformat my computer's hard drive (the one with XP) then clean install linux...

What that means is that microsoft is allowed to download the updates for Windows as well as any Microsoft Products without you knowing of it and installing it. It can be disabled if you wish. Microsoft does not change any software, only update the software you have installed that was created by Microsoft... again, it can be disabled.

And I definately don't need Microsoft updating any software on my machine without me knowing about it.
